Jack Carter (for NV Senate) is a real class act.

(x-posted from Dkos)

I got my mail yesterday, and among the "Penny Savers", greencine mailers, bills, and other sundries, I received an envelope from Nevada. What was it? Why... it was a HANDWRITTEN response from Jack Carter thanking me for my donation last week.

Here's the thing, i'm not very well off, but I drop what I can where I can for candidates I like and respect and want to see win. I've donated to Busby, Eric Massa, Jon Tester, Ciro, Hackett, you name it. If somebody is going to stand up for me, i'm going to try to stand up for them in the limited way that I can. I expect nothing in return other then, hopefully, a win and a takeback of the country, but I really want to reiterate just how much this handwritten response affected me.

See ever since I gave me first political donation to Howard Dean, it seems like every direct mail operation in DC targets me for $$$ every chance they get. Some of them are personalized and actually have care and thought put into them, most of them... not so much. And really, if they are just going to spend my money on direct mail (which I hate) what is the point?

I hate being thought of as an ATM, especially since the few donations that I do give out, are usually very small and only as I can afford them.

So i'd like to reiterate that Jack Carter is among other things, a real class act. I don't even want to think about how many of those little thank yous on the "Carter" cardstock he handwrote and signed. Plus his daughter is one of us... which is very cool. I can't wait until he replaces Ensignificant in November and helps us retake the Senate.

well done sir!

Carter for NV Senate.

seriously.

Thanks! (none / 0)

I don't think it ever occurred to my Dad to not thank people in a sincere way.  My step-Mom Elizabeth cried the first time someone donated just $5 through the website.  She thought it was so sweet.

The smallest donations come with the biggest hearts.

that's what makes it special. (none / 0)

He wasn't trying to be genuine, he just is.
That kind of thing cannot be easilly learned.

Tell me Sarah, is your dad going to be at yearly kos?

It seems like it'd be a perfect opportunity, being that it's in Vegas and all.

Yearly Kos (none / 0)

isn't allowed to do any "electioneering" -- it has to do with their tax status or something.  So, he won't have an official speech.  But, he'll be around, and he may participate in some other way.

We are going to set up a low-donation fundraiser independently of Yearly Kos that weekend so that people can meet him.

Re: Thanks! (none / 0)

I got my thank you card in the mail yesterday as well.  I was surprised that it was handwritten.  He is a class act indeed.  Someone like Jack Carter who clearly and truly appreciates any amount a person can give inspires loyalty and dedication amongst their supporters.

I will give to him again.  And win or lose, he has my lifelong admiration and respect.  I wish him all the luck in the world.  :)

We need WAY more people like him in public life.

McCain is defining Obama, and Obama is neither defining himself, nor McCain. This is awful.
